The Chinese Embassy or Chinese Consulate may issue a Tourist Visa, Business Visa, Work Visa, and a variety of other types of visa depending on the purpose of travel to China.

For every type of visa to China, the traveler must submit their passport and application before they leave their home country for the visa to be processed, although tourist visas may be processed in Hong Kong.

China Visa Application Form is a questionnaire prepared by the Chinese government. Every country that requires a visa for entry has its own unique visa application form. In addition, most countries require travelers to send their original passport along with the visa application form, photos, and a variety of supporting documents in order to process the visa.

China Visa Types

China Spousal Visa is issued to a spouse of a Chinese citizen it is a one year visitor visa with multiple entry meaning the spouse may come and go as frequently as desired. It does not entitle the spouse to work and is easily renewed annually. You may apply for it within China or from your home country, and it is really basically an extended Tourist visa with some special additonal benefits.

China Business Visa is issued for travelers who have been invited to China for any type of business activities, including business meetings, factory visits, lectures and cultural exchanges, etc.

China Tourist Visa is issued for travelers who are planning to travel to China for sightseeing, adventure travel, family visiting or vacation.

China Transit Visa is issued for travelers who are planning to stop in China on their way to another destination, without really staying in the country for an extended visit.

China Crew Visa is issued to crewmembers working on board of international trains, airliners or vessels to China.

China Work Visa is issued for travelers who are planning to work in China as an employee in a Chinese company.

China Student Visa is issued for travelers who are planning to travel to China for study, advanced studies or certain types of internships.

China Diplomatic Visa is issued for travelers holding official or diplomatic passports (only issued to government representatives and employees) who are planning to travel to China for diplomacy or official US government purposes.
